What: A great camping opportunity and a chance to do cool activities like archery, outdoor cooking, fishing and more!

Why: Have FUN and maybe earn a few belt loops! Webelos will have separate age appropriate activities.  And of course there is always the awesome campfire program.

Where: CAMP SHANDS Directions from Gainesville:  Take SR-26 East to Melrose.  Then South on SR-21 to Baden Powell Road (approx. 3 miles).  Take a left on Baden Powell Road, to camp entrance on right (approx. 2.9 miles).

When: February 5th – February 7th, 2010. Come for the entire weekend and camp with your family or just come out Saturday for the day.

Check-in: Friday, Feb. 5th begins at 4:00 p.m. & Saturday, Feb. 6th begins at 7:00 a.m.

Registration: Please register with your pack contact person. The registration fee is $10.00 per person. Siblings under the age of 5 are free.  This fee covers insurance and program materials, including a commemorative 2010 patch for everyone. Order your commemorative 100 Years in Scouting shirt for only $12.00 each. Please register with your pack contact person and pay your fee to your pack. CAPACITY is limited so pack registrations (form online at www.alachuabsa.org) should be received on or before Jan. 7th, 2010 to guarantee a campsite, patch & shirt. If you plan on attending Saturday only you are still required to register and pay the fee. Please send your registration form and monies to: North Florida Council, 521 S. Edgewood Ave., Jacksonville, FL 32205.

How:

What should I bring on the campout? Bring camping equipment, sleeping bag and your own food if you are spending the night.  Bring your lunch and a drink if you are only spending the day.  Don’t forget the camera! Oh, and if it looks like rain, bring your rain gear.

What should I wear? Wear comfortable clothes that you don’t mind getting a little dirty during the day time activities.  Comfortable shoes are a must.  (Open toed shoes are not allowed while at camp except while in the showers. Yes, there are hot showers!).

What if it rains? We have plenty of rainy day activities planned. We will NOT cancel regardless of rain or cold. Please come dressed appropriately. Refund policy can be found at www.nfcscouting.org.

Pack Contest: We are encouraging each pack to create a pack flag to take with you on Saturday. The flags will be judged throughout the day and we will announce 2 winners (a Cub & Webelos) at campfire. Show your spirit and innovative design using the theme “100 Years in Scouting – A Birthday Celebration”
