Congratulations To:

  • Inga Glaspey (P576/District), Lee Mintz (P416/T432/District) and Ron Spitznagel (T307/ District), for being nominated by their peers to receive the District Award of Merit for their outstanding service to our program.

 

Much Thanks to:                           

·         Amy Keller, Marty Heesacker, Rich Watkins, Pat Whitmer, and Howard Wallace for their hard work putting on a fantastic Adult Recognition Dinner.

·         Maria Eunice, Chair of this year’s Camp Buc Tuocs. Everyone agrees this was the best ever! The fantastic weather was a welcome surprise, as was the appearance by Captain Cub Scout!

 

For All:

·         The District Scouting for Food will take place the weekends of March 1 & 8. Contact Jan MacKenzie for more information (h) 352-264-0373, macjan@shands.ufl.edu . (h) ke place the weekends of March 3 & 10.

·         The annual Council Recognition Dinner is Tuesday March 18th at 7:00 p.m. at the University of North Florida. Tickets ($25.00) may be purchased via the registration form available at Roundtable or online. See the council web page for more information.

·         Olustee is February 15-17. As a reminder, this year there will be no camping allowed in the traditional camping area, nor will there be North Florida representation (including no patches) at the campsite area.

·         Please use the online advancement program to do a unit audit and make sure all your active Scouts are registered.

·         Interested in helping out at a Sporting Clays event March 7 and/or 8 in Bradford Co? Please contact Gary at (c) 244-8855, gstasco@bsamail.org.

 

For Committee Members:

·         Family Investment in Character sign ups need to be completed. It is requested that all presentations be complete by April 30, 2008. Please contact Gary, (c) 224-8855 email gstasco@bsamail.org, with dates/ questions.

·         All units now have both a unit account and a unit registration account at the Council Service Center. Money in the registration account can only be spent on registration. Money in the unit account cannot be spent on registration. Only registered unit leaders can authorize transfers from the registration account to the other. A unit registration account deposit will have an “R” on the receipt after the unit number.

 

For Boy Scout Leaders:

·    The District Camporee is at Camp Shands March 28-30 September September 1 – Octobex. It also says flyer attached. Can we have our flyers posted on the web?

·    Trail to Eagle Seminar is February 23rd 10:00 am at Trinity UMC.

·    Do you have your 2008 summer camp destination picked out? If so, please give the location and the date to District Camping Chair, Milledge Murphey (h) 373-9234, mmurphey@hhp.ufl.edu or to Gary.

·    There are new activities including Climbing Instructor Training, Brownsea, Philmont 2009 and Extreme Fest at Camp Echockotee listed on the council web site.

 

For Cub Leaders:

  • District Pinewood Derby will be March 15th at a Jim Douglas Chevrolet in High Springs. Please make sure that your Cubs that advance are aware of Council Pinewood Derby rule requirements. Contact Michael Wohl with your top winners (h) 352-375-2049, wohlhut@bellsouth.net.
  • Have all your Webelos contacted troops to schedule visits? Do you know which ones are crossing over? Contact Gary for more assistance and the names of Cubs crossing over (and the troops to which they are crossing).
