Roundtable Notes
June 2008
Congratulations
to:
- Scout
Logan Rutledge, T432 for being elected by
his fellow arrow men as the OA Apieka Chapter Chief.
Much Thanks
to:
·
Bob Lightner, Amy
Keller, Lee Mintz, Mike Rhodes, Pat Whitmer,
and all the staff and counselors of the Merit Badge Day. They
hosted another new record -158 Boy Scouts (some from other districts!) -
in a great day of adventure and learning at Santa Fe CC. There was even
some coverage in the Gainesville Sun.
·
Inga Glaspey, Jeff
Opalko, Jay Welch, Ron White and
Mike Wohl for an enthusiastic and informative
Day Camp Leader Training. The
Cub leaders certainly appreciated the help and now have all the skills
to lead a fun time!
·

for his service this past year as OA Apieka
Chapter Chief. During his time in service, the number of OA
elections was greatly increased.
For All:
·
The annual Program
Planning Conference was May 8th. The District and Council
Calendar is available on the website. Have you had your unit planning
conference? Successful units will have their schedule for 2008-2009
program year before breaking for the summer.
For Committee
Members:
·
Please bring your unit
popcorn commitment cards to the June Roundtable. The District
Popcorn Kickoff will be at Trinity UMC, August 23rd at 10:00
am. All units should plan to have their Popcorn Chair attend.
·
Please use the online
advancement program to do a unit audit and make sure all your active
Scouts are registered.
·
Please begin an inventory of
your unit leader training needs. All registered leaders need
Youth Protection and New Leader Essentials. Cub Leaders and Troop
Committee Members need Leader Specific Training. Scoutmasters and ASM’s
need Scoutmaster Specific and Introduction to Outdoor Leader Skills (IOLS).
Den Leaders moving up will need to retake the applicable Den Leader
Specific Training. A membership identification number is needed to take
Youth Protection online (found on registration card or call Registration
Office).

Summer Camp destination picked out? If so, please give the location
and the date to District Camping Chair, Milledge Murphey (h) 373-9234,
