SCHOOL NIGHT FOR SCOUTING
(From our DE
Gary,)
Joey Giberti,
our School Night Chair, says it will be even more fun filled than
last year.
School Night Training
will be Thursday Aug 9,
6:30 pm
at Idylwild Elementary Cafeteria. This training will be
mandatory for all School Night Coordinators that wish to be eligible
for Cub recruiting incentives. Please be prepared to stay for about
2 hours. No babysitting will be available so please no small
children. For further information, contact School Night Coordinator
Joey Giberti, (c) 352-246-6206 or email
g8trband@aol.com.
This year's
incentive: Cub Handbooks, are in and ready to be distributed!
A
couple notes on scheduling school nights (also called Roundups): The
Alachua County School Board just set it's elementary school open
houses and they are to be the week of Sept 4th.That should free up
August 30th to have our targeted Round Up Night in most places.
If
you have a good relationship with your principal, you may sign up
for the Round up Night and the Rally Day (Classroom presentation)
while I'm away for the next two weeks. Please email results to Joey
and I. If you cannot schedule anything, I will resume that process
after August 6.
If
the night of Aug 30th in the cafeteria is not available, please do
not schedule an earlier date. There is too much going on at the
start of school
Several options
would be: Is a music room or library available? Is Sep 4th an
option? Normally the first day of the week is not good, but it can
be if you are sure to get the flyers home in the take home folders
the week before. you would also want to do the rally on Tuesday or
at least do an announcement.
Is Sep 6th an
option? It is if your pack has the leadership available to support
that and Roundtable. Moving Roundtable isn't an option because new
leader training is the following week.
Last option is
to have the Round up the week of Sep 10th.

This is an
important time of our Scouting year. Bringing the program to the
schools and recruiting new youth can be challenging. Are you
ready!
